About Our Florida Drilling Company

Skinner Horizontal Utilities Service was founded in 1986 by my father Larry D Skinner. After returning home from the army serving in Vietnam for 18 months my father went to work for a local contractor in the Jacksonville Florida area. After starting off as a grunt in the field, he worked hard developing his expertise in underground utility services. Over time he worked up to superintendent, and then ultimately decided to start his own company specializing in large diameter road bores and horizontal drilling in Florida.

We truly are a family run operation. My father first started off working by himself for many years in the field with my mother Frances Skinner running administrative duties in the office until her passing in 2012. We have expanded our team to include our wet tapping expert Robert (Stump) Skinner, who started working for us in 1999. I Sam Skinner started in the summer of 2001, and have been working very hard to earn the reputation my father has after 43 years of working in the underground utilities business.
